The date for the the 2006 Ohio Jr. Federation State Tournament is Sunday September 24. Delaware Lake just north of Delaware, Ohio will again be the site of the championship. Blastoff for the tournament will be 8:00 a.m with a 1:00 p.m trailered weigh-in. Registration will begin at 6:15 a.m and run till 7:00 a.m. at which time the boaters and Jr. anglers will have a brief pre-launch meeting. We will use the southwest marina near the dam. It is the first right turn entering the park according to Debbie at Delaware Lake’s park office. This is NOT the ramp we used last year An added feature for this year’s event will be the Tadpole Tournament for Jr. Federation members who do not make the 11 year old age requirement. Each club may send no more than two Tadpoles. Unlike the Jr. tournament rules that forbids Jr. anglers from fishing with a boater from their sponsor club, this rule will be waived for the Tadpoles. For safety reasons, we prefer that these younger anglers (ages 8-10) be in a boat with familiar captains and even parents. The Jr. tournament age brackets will remain the same, 11 to 14 and 15 to 18. Because this event will advance two winners to the national TBF/FLW Junior Championship in August of 2007, the age grouping for each Junior must reflect his age by August 30, 2007. This rule will affect any Junior angler who is 14 or 18 years of age on the day of our state tournament. If you have any questions about this requirement, contact me before the day of our state championship. Participants must be a minimum of 11 years old the day of the Ohio Jr. State Tournament |
Deadline to register a Junior angler for the state tournament is September 8, 2006. The rules for the number of entries a club may send will also remain the same. The numbers are as follows: Total club members 6-10…… May send 4 “ “ “ 11-15…… May send 6 “ “ “ 16 & over….. May send 8 For every two Jr. anglers sent to the state tournament, the sponsor club mustprovide one boat/boater. Failure by a sponsor club to provide boats could reduce the number of Jr. anglers permitted to participate in the State Tournament.
