REGION 6 SPRING REGIONAL TOURNAMENT SUMMARY

5/21-22/05…OHIO RIVER, BELLVILLE POOL

 
On May 21&22 the Region 6 Spring Regional was held at the Belpre ramp on the Bellville Pool of the Ohio River.  Saturday’s weather was cool & dry as 68 two man teams waited over 2 hours to start due to a fog delay.  At weigh-in, Randy Layton, Jackson County Bassmasters, had the top weight of 6.78# including the tournament’s Big Bass, a monster largemouth weighing 5.75# (rumor has it that a shad rap was involved).  Saturday’s total catch consisted of 50 bass weighing 78.92# caught by 41 anglers. 

On Sunday, the weather was warm & dry till the end of weigh-in when a cold front brought some rain down.  In all, 62 anglers caught 93 bass weighing 138.17#, all largemouth except for 2 spots & 1 smallmouth.  Randy Layton was 1^st with 9.01#, Greg Brown, Veto Bass came in 2^nd with 8.92# and Tim Williams, Frontier Bassmasters, weighed in with 6.25# to finish 3rd. 

Thanks go to all of the contestants for making this a smooth tournament;  also thanks to Jerry Burkhart, John Thompson, Shawn Affolter, Perry Brown, Butch Wyatt, Bill Roe, Sr.(release boat), Charlie Rose, Melba Wyatt, Oggie ?, and anyone else who may helped (sorry if I missed your name)…a fine example of a successful large group effort.
