Old Business:  Critique of 2009 Regional Tournament:  Maxwell explained the change from Aberdeen Ramp to Eagle Creek. No one present had an issue with the change. Discussion of the tournament lead to conversation about the new rule adopted by the State, i.e. keeping the same partner both days. Maxwell expressed his opinion that we continue to change partners. All present appeared to have the same thoughts. Jon Powell was inadvertently left on of the official list of finishers for Region Five, he finished 42nd. This information was forwarded to the proper officials.

New Business:  State Raffle Tickets: Raffle tickets were distributed to the clubs present for the 2010 drawing at the Open Federation meeting. Clubs were reminded that the money raised is split with half being returned as prize money at the regional tournaments and only 300 tickets will be sold. 2010 Region FIVE Tournament:  A motion was made to have the 2010 Regional Tournament on St. Mary’s Lake. The motion was made by Jon Powell and seconded by Randy Dickerson. The motion was voted on and passed. The date will be in early May, however, no date was set due to possible conflict with other tournament. Date will be set at a later date. Pay Out:  There was some discussion about how many places we should pay out at the regional, after brief discussion, the issue was tabled for further discussion at a later date.

Other:  Scales:  Region FIVE has been using scales that belong to Maxwell’s club. The club has been inactive and therefore the service contract (insurance) has been handled any way Tony could do it. It was suggested that each of the ten clubs donate three dollars toward the service contract. Each of the seven clubs present pitched in $3. No formal action taken.

Motion to Adjourn: made @ 9:00 PM; seconded; Voted on and passed. Meeting adjourned.

Call to Order:       Regional Director Tony Maxwell called meeting to order at 8:08.

Minutes:     Dispensed with reading of minutes of previous meeting.

Roll Call:    Present:           Dumb Bassers, Butler County, Inland Base Club, Ohio                                                        Valley, Southwestern Ohio, Shelby County & Tri State

Absent:            Brown County, Crossroads of America, & Fish Bull

Old Business:

          1.       Rosters and reports turned in to Maxwell.

2.       Maxwell has written to the Mayor of Aberdeen in order to                        secure the date and location of Region Five’s 2009                                     tournament. No reply to date.

          3.       2008 regional patches were passed out by Maxwell.

          4.       Bass Fan has decided to cancel the Weekend Warrior                                Championship for 2008. The future of this tournament is up in                         the air. This relates the Ohio’s Tournament of Champion.                           (Should Ohio continue the tournament with minor changes?                         NOT DISCUSSED.)

New Business:

Discussion: Who picked Gallipolis for the State Championship and what were they thinking? Several members stated that several club members were not attending the Championship because of the late date and the location on the River.

There was also discussion about making the Championship more centralized. It was pointed out that Ohio does not have many lakes that can accommodate that number of boats. The same issue was raised about the SQT’s. No resolution was reached.

The discussion of the State Championship issues lead to members wanting to know where the entry fees for the regional tournaments are spent. Nothing was resolved after several minutes of discussion except that a consensus was reached. We, as an organization, should do something to increase pay out at that level. This lead to the following motion by Dean Hill, seconded by Ernie Shuler:

“Motion to raise the Regional FIVE pot money from 10$ to 20$ per tournament. The pay out would use the current formula.”  (PASSED)

Discussion on the motion:       It was pointed out that asking people to pay more in the current economic times might NOT be the smartest thing to do. It was the opinion of several members present that we were going to lose some participants because of the poor economy anyway. It was also their opinion that those participating would like to win more money. Motion voted on and passed.

Maxwell asked that all clubs make sure that their club’s contact e-mail address is correct.

2009 MEETING DATES:

Motion by Mike Brown, seconded by Fred Cole, to set the 2009 meeting dates as follows:
