Grand Lake St Marys September 31 & October 1 proved to be the toughest Regional tournament I have witnessed as a Region 2 Director. The weather was great, the water was the color of thick pea soup, and the bite was off. One Hundred Twelve (112) fishermen caught sixty one (61) keeper bass weighing one hundred twenty pounds two hundred ounces (122.02). This converts to a .032 fish per hour catch rate and .5 fish per fisherman for the two day tournament. That is tough fishing in anyone's book.
Jason Osting of Yankee BM #1 led both days as he was one of three fishermen to catch 2 fish on day one. He weighed in 5.72lbs. followed by fellow club member Todd Neu Yankee # 2 with 4.37 lbs. and Paul Tucker Allen County #2 with 3.83lbs. The Yankee B.M. of Harrod put all three of there teams in the top five after day one. There were only 26 of 112 fishermen that caught 29 keepers after day one. Dana Ludwig Wyandot #1 had big bass and fourth place with a 3.340 largemouth.
Day two provided better fishing as the fishermen eliminated allot of water after day one. Dana Ludwig Wyandot BM #1 went from fourth to second place with the only 5 fish limit of the tournament at 9.56 lbs. Osting brought 3 fish to the scales hitting 10.12 lbs including the big bass of the tournament a 3.68 largemouth locking down first place individual and putting Yankee BM of Harrod #1 nearly 10lbs ahead of second place Wyandot BM #1. Tony Cotter's third place individual finish with 3 fish at 5.77 helped Mill Creek Anglers take the third place team award.
