BAD CHECK POLICY

This policy covers the action to be taken when a check is returned for insufficient funds.

Every effort will be made to respect the privacy of the individual or individuals involved, with only those OBCF board members with a need to know receiving any information.

When a check is returned to the OBCF treasurer by our bank for insufficient funds at the bank on which the check  was written the treasurer will follow the procedure below: 

• Notification will be mailed to all individuals that were covered by the check.
• Directors of the region involved will be notified by email.
• If the check was for a state tournament entry fee, the state tournament director will also be notified.
• If the check only covered 1 person than it is the responsibility of that person to make payment for the check amount plus the 25.00 OBCF bad check fee.
• If the check covers multiple individuals all individuals involved are held responsible until the full amount of the check plus the 25.00 OBCF bad check fee is paid.

Until the full amount of the check plus the 25.00 OBCF bad check fee is paid the following applies. 

• If the check is for a tournament entry fee the individual or individuals whose entry fee was to be paid by the returned check will be denied participation in OBCF tournaments until such time as the full amount owed is paid.
• If the check is for member dues the individual or individuals whose dues were to be paid by the returned check will have membership withheld until the full amount owed is paid.
